Controlling Windows Media Player

Postby elmolino » Thu 29. May 2008, 11:01

Hi y'all!

Media Center and system (keyboard) controls work after a fresh install, but WMP (version 10) does not respond to my remote(s).
I took a look at the configuration files, and they might need a update for the recent versions of WMP (different WM_APPCOMMAND commands perhaps?)

Did someone succeed in controlling a recent version of Windows Media Player (e.g. version 10) by IRtrans and a remote?

Thanks ppl!

Best Regards

The Windows Mediaplayer support is usually deactivated in the apps.cfg.

The reason is that you will otherwise have double command reactions as the Mediaplayer is also
running in the background when MCE is used.

Thanks for your quick reply :)

But that's interesting.
How do I activate it in the app.cfg file?

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

Simply remove the "_" in front of the classname in the apps.cfg file (in the remotes folder):

[CLASSNAME]_WMPlayerApp

should become

[CLASSNAME]WMPlayerApp

Thanks for your help - it now works :)

I avoided the double commands (left, right, enter) by only entering these at WMP (not all apps or MC).

I can now perfectly control WMP and MC. Awesome :)
