irtrans module/driver causes conflict on mac os 10.6.2

hi,

i have an irtrans usb module that i purchased in 2007. it has worked really well, until i upgraded to snow leopard 10.6.x.
it continues to function to receive/transmit ir-codes, but while it's plugged in, if i play a video via the dvdplayer, frontrow or eyetv, the computer will crash and restart after a seemingly random amount of time. if i unplug the module, the computer functions normally, but then i can't change channels from eyetv via ired.

is there a new driver that is more snow leopard compatible?
