Controlling MythTV

Postby dats » Thu 17. Jul 2008, 15:45

I am trying to use my remote with mythtv, but haven't been able to figure it out so far. I believe I have the server software running correctly because when I run it with
./irserver -codedump -debug_code -loglevel 4 /dev/ttyUSB0
I get output like
[0.0] right mediacenter
[0.0] up mediacenter
[0.0] down mediacenter
[0.0] ok mediacenter

I have a /home/username/.mythtv/lircrc file and a /home/username/.lircrc file. I tried a couple things like changing
button = Up
button = up mediacenter
button = up
but nothing like that has worked for me.

Any tips? My environment is OpenSuSE 11 64-bit.

Hi,
I am sorry but we do not know MythTV. However, I know that there are a lot of people using
the IRTrans with MythTV. Perhaps you might search a bit on the internet.

Of course we would be happy to see the final solution here in our forum.

I did some searching and found a solution to my problem. It turns out it was more of an OpenSUSE issue than a MythTV issue. Here's a link to the solution:
http://de.mythtvtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=799

I just used translate.google.com to make that page slightly more readable to me, and decided to try the "ln -s /dev/lircd /var/run/lirc/lircd" command mentioned in the post. Now, when I started up "./irserver -codedump -debug_code -loglevel 4 /dev/ttyUSB0" and then started up MythTV I saw this output

Local Socket connection request
Local Client 0 accepted on 15

which I had not seen before. Everything works like a charm now!
