What do I need?

Postby dharris » Fri 25. Jun 2010, 21:48

I have 3 LCD panels located 150' from the cable box receivers. I want to be able to turn the sets off and on remotely and I need help deciding on the proper equipment. I would also like to set up the system to automate the schedule when the sets turn on and off.

Thanks.

Hi,
to do that we would suggest using 3 IRTrans Ethernet IRDB.

Together with a PC running LINUX or Windows you can make simple schedules to switch the TVs on and off.

Please feel free to ask any further questions you might have.

Thanks, I was looking that way. Since our IT group is very fussy about what gets cnnected to the network, would I be better off in using a seperate hub to connect them all together on their own netwok with a dedicated PC? Or can they be intergrated on the existing network but maybe their own subnet?

Also, what automation software is compatible with this unit?

Thanks.

Hi,
in general these are standard IP devices. That means you can integrate them any way you like.

Our device use a very flexible UDP/TPC/http interface. That means you can easily use them with any automation SW supporting e.g. simple ASCII Strings sent via UDP.
