problem learning ir code for onkyo dx-7555

Postby sim » Thu 19. Feb 2009, 12:17

Recently I got an IRtrans usb module and got it to work with my Homeseer system. Great device. Learning codes is as easy as it gets. No problem at all with all my remotes except the one for my Onkyo DX-7555 cd player. It learns all the codes, recognizes them again, but sends something that my cd player does not recognize. Can anyone tell me what is so specific about this cd player's code or help me get the code. I have been looking all over all kinds of forums but no luck until now.
Thanks, Joost

Hi,
that is rather unusual - normally Onkyo uses NEC IR Codes that can easily be learned.

Please post the .rem file you have learned (you find it in the folder "remotes").

Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply. Attaced is the homeseer remote file. nrs 7,8 and 9 are Onkyo commands for the cd player dx-7555. resp for on, open/close and play. Non of these work. One thing may give a clue. A few times when pushing the send command a few times quickly after each other it worked, but I cannot repeat that.

regards,

Joost

Hi,
as I suspected these are IR Codes using the NEC protocol. The codes look perfectly clean - I am almost sure that the problem lies somewhere else.

Which IRTrans device are you using ?

What does the status LED of the IRTrans show when sending these IR Codes ?

ok, good news. I am using a USB module with a universal learning ir receiver. The status led turns red very shortly when sending the onkyo commands. Like with the other commands, but much shorter.

thanks,

Hmm, very strange because the codes are rather long.

Perhaps Homeseer mixes something up here.

Please try to learn these codes again using our software and using a new .rem file (Remote name).

Thank you for your reply. I did what you suggested, no difference, same problem. Attached a file I got from Onkyo, does that give you a direction?

Hi,
Im sure that your IR Codes are OK - these are perfectly clean NEC Format codes.

Did you try to reposition the IRTrans so that the distance / angle to your Onkyo receiver are optimal ?
