IRtrans LAN xl controller + IRbus modules

HI,

I aquired the lan xl controller and the 3x a irbus module.
I've got 4 wires left over to each room in which a irbus should be placed and the lan XL will be in the central location.

What should be the wiring schematics?

On the XL controller i see the serial bus connector. I assume i need to send out the wire from there 3x towards the irbus module. But i dont know the pin layout off the connector (what needs to be connected with what) the same story goes for the connectors on the irbus modules. I've ordered all the correct jacks/connectors so i am basicly good to go, only need to know which wire goes in where with what pin numbers.

I dont see this information on the website clearly or i am not looking in the right place.

So:

[Irtrans XL] (in basement)
/|\
|| \ _ ir bus module
| \_ ir bus module
\_ ir bus module

Can your clarify these items?

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Hi Eric,
please have a look at the IRTrans Manuals:
- The standard manual shows the Pin-out of the Mini DIN 8 Connector
- The LAN Controller XL Manual shows the Pin Out of the RJ12 connector for the LAN Controller XL

You only need to connect GND, +Voltage, Data. All will simply be connected.

after some other need projects came first i finally had some time to look into the whole irtrans thingy (was missing a t.v. here and there, kinda helps if you have stuff)

I've created a ir-bus, have a LAN XL controller, plugged it into the ir-bus plug, and connected it straight onto one of those ir-modules. Set the device code to some other then the lan XL and tried it out.
It blinks green , then red, then stops. I dont know if thats correct, but when i try to find this module somewhere in the software or try to send signals to it it doesn't do much.

Is there a easy way to check that i created the cabling in a correct way? (i though lights blinking would be a winner)

Hi,
regarding your questions:

- Red/Green Blinking is the normal behaviour. However, it will only show you that the Bus module is powered - nothing else.
- To Send IR Codes via the serial bus you will first need to enable "SBUS Send" in the device settings of the LAN Controller XL.
- If you open the device settings you should see a list of the devices (LAN Controller XL + Bus module).

Do you see the Bus module in the device settings ? If not there is a problem with the wiring.

I dont know if you where referring to the website of the lan XL or to the device status in the GUIclient.

The guiclient only shows SBUS receive:

irding.png (21.8 KiB) Viewed 51772 times

And the website on the lan XL does not have a mark somewhere for SBUS send. Its running:
LAN Version L1.06.22
IR Version E5.09.07

OK, then your device has got an older firmware version that does not have this separate flag.

In case the bus module is not shown there is a problem with the cabeling.

You mean in above screenshot there would be something extra?

Do you perhaps have a screenshot like that, so i know what i am suppose to see.

Thanks.

There will be another dialog with a tree view shown before you see the dialog above.
The tree view allows you to select the IRTrans device to use.

well if its get power, i would assume the power and the ground are connected correctly. Would only leave the data line that might be wrong. I'll open everything up again and double check.
