Web interface not restarting

Postby rhodesy22 » Thu 1. Dec 2011, 14:00

Hi,

We're experiencing an issue where the IR trans, when turned off and then on at the power, it sometimes will no longer allow you to connect to the web interface.

The green status light is showing as being connected to the Wi-FI and we can ping the IP and telnet to 21000 but not port 80 when the web interface is unreachable.

We've tried 6.8.10 and 6.8.9 firmware.

Thanks

Hi,
so far we have never seen that happen.

I also do not have any real idea what might cause such a problem.

After power up everything gets initialized to a proper state.

Is there anything we can do to help provide a better analysis?

We've created a video to show you exactly what's happening, it's around 75mb

Well, that does not help a lot. It gives me no insight WHY that happens.

Could you try the device in a different WLAN Network?

As that did not happen anywhere else so far I do not think that this is a problem of the device.

Hmm, really strange.

Could you try the IRTrans Windows SW to make sure you have connected to the correct device?
No idea how the iPhone device discovery works - I want to make sure you really identified the correct devices.

Please also check the access control settings using the Windows SW (GUI Client).

It would furthermore be interesting to see a network dump of the http communication.

As shown in the video - I can connect to the devices fine over port 21000, and they ping, but I can't even telnet on port 80 so there's no HTTP packets to show. This clarifies that they are in fact the right devices, but further more they have had their firmwares reinstalled after initial failures of the same kind, then their IP's set again on 2 different, isolated wi-fi networks.

It occurs with all 9 of the devices, not just the three that I demonstrated turning off.

The device discovery on the iPhone is just scanning a range of IP's TCP on port 80 but to make it clearer, I showed the web browser and telnet both being unable to connect on port 80 too.

Also, sometimes we can turn them off and then on again and the web service will start working again.

Regarding the iPhone Tool: How are you scanning the ports?

In case you are contacting the devices on port 80 to scan them you need to make sure that you are using proper requests to do that. Otherwise you might disconnect the listening socket. Then no further http connections will be possible.

Due to the available memory the number of sockets is limited.

As there are more than 1000 WiFi devices installed I am asking myself why that only happens in your installation.
